Zoe Wilcox | Interim Head of School & Pedagogical Director

Zoe Wilcox has been a dedicated Waldorf educator for 15 years. She took Steiner Foundational Training from Antioch and several Grade intensive trainings to lead a small homeschool group.  She taught at the Waldorf school, El Jardin, in Nayarit, Mexico and took training at Centro de Desarrollo Antroposófico to experience how different cultures take up Waldorf principles and make it their own.  She earned her Waldorf Teacher's Certificate at the Micha-el Institute in Portland, OR and took a job at Santa Fe Waldorf School where she honed the art of teaching the Waldorf curriculum.  She has taught every grade, Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Zoe obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Illinois, Art History and French, and has educated children around the world in English, French, Bemba, and Spanish. She also has a background in farming. Zoe cultivated her farming roots in a Permaculture training program in Queensland, Australia.  As a Peace Corps volunteer in Zambia, she used this training to develop a Sustainable Agriculture curriculum for all incoming farming-based volunteers and lead its first training.  This led to her co-authored book, The Homefarming Revolution. She was able to use her child's playground at a Waldorf preschool in Albuquerque, as a study site for the Permaculture Training Course she was co-teaching at the time. This is where she fell in love with Waldorf education.

Zoe was a Founding Member of the Sun Mountain Community School and was Head Writer of its application.  As Interim Head of School, she successfully made the case to NMPED and NMPEC that New Mexico needs this vibrant and holistic education. She believes that Waldorf educated children will lead us to a smarter, more peaceful world.
